Class Three

On entering Class 3, pupils take an important step in the process of becoming independent learners. Pupils participate fully in the wide variety of activities and many represent the School in a variety of events.

Class 3 is good because you become role models for the rest of the school. You get to do a whole lot of fantastic jobs like: sports chest, assembly, buddies and corridor monitors. We go on amazing trips like Robinwood, Kingsway and a trip to London. Year 5 is Rowan, Elisabeth and Ben. Year 6 is Alex, Faith, Layla, Ella, Holly, Thomas, Sophie, George, Kyle, Jamie, Edward, Leon and Marc.

If there was no class 3 then then there would be no one to help the teachers with the little ones. The year sixes take great responsibility by helping the teachers and the other pupils. We also need to give the school a good reputation with SATS and going on trips. When important visitors are in school class 3 behave to their full potential so there is a great reputation for the school.

By being a corridor monitor you make sure that people are behaving in the corridor.

Collective worship is run by all the year sixes: they set up the computer and put the songs and pictures on.

There is a sports chest outside in the yard full of great equipment and there are monitors who run that and look after the equipment.

The computer monitors turn on the computers in a morning and when school finishes they turn them off.

Class 3 does lots of jobs for Bowes Hutchinson’s.

Year 6 children are prepared for their transition into the Secondary phase of education to enable a smooth transfer.

Academic work is top priority with children encouraged to produce work of the highest standard according to their ability. In Mathematics and English children are allowed to work at their own pace. As well as termly assessment tests, our Year 6 children all sit the KS2 SATs with results well above the national average.

There are many more opportunities in Year 6 including a day trip to London to visit `The Houses of Parliament` and other places of interest, the children participate in the 4 day, 3 night trip to London and have the opportunity to enjoy other termly excursions that enhance and further the classroom teaching to nearby places of interest.

By the end of Year 6 the children are very much looking forward, with confidence, to the next stage of their education.
