Thank you to everyone who helped ensure the safe arrival at school yesterday during the inclement weather.
Although I am up at 5am to assess the situation, you will know that the weather conditions, particularly in Bowes can change at short notice so that I am unable to make an informed decision until nearer to the start of the school day.
The opportunities to share developments with you via the Facebook page seem to be popular with parents and we will continue to do this.
F…or parents who do not have Facebook, there is a link on our website home page which will take you directly to our Facebook updates. You do not need a Facebook account to access these updates.
In the event of a school closure, Durham County Council will be informed and a message will appear on their website and the school website as well as our Facebook page. In addition, we will put into place our emergency snowline and endeavour to contact every parent, be that by Facebook, text, email or phone. However, this obviously takes longer and is dependent on our being in an area that has access to a signal.
Whenever we can open school and it is safe to do so, we will. Also, bear in mind, if you are unable to get your child to school first thing, you are welcome to bring them in later when the weather clears.
Once again, thank you to everyone who acted as cover, who helped us with weather reports and who kindly shared our messages.
