Welcome to our SEND Information Report which is part of Durham County Council’s Local Offer for children and young people with Special Educational Needs. All governing bodies of maintained schools have a legal duty to publish information on their website about the implementation of the SEND Policy.
At Bowes Hutchinson’s C of E V A Primary School we are committed to the equal inclusion of all pupils in all areas of primary school life. We recognise the diverse and individual needs of all of our pupils and take into account the additional support required by those children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Mrs Manning is our designated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator. It is her job to:
- oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEN policy
- liaise with the relevant Designated Teacher where a looked after pupil has SEN
- advise teacher’s on using a graduated approach to providing SEN support
- advise on the deployment of the school’s delegated budget and other resources to meet the pupil’s needs effectively
- liaise with parents of pupils with SEN
- liaise with and act as a key point of contact for external agencies
- ensure that the school keeps the records of all SEN pupils up to date
- work with the school governors to ensure that the school meets its
- responsibilities under the Education Act (2010) with regard to reasonable adjustments and access arrangements
